Famed for it's delicious wines, beautiful architecture and delectable food, Bordeaux is a city that not many people can resist.  The capital of the Aquitaine region of France, it is also one of the largest urban areas in the country and is tantalizingly close to the Bay of Biscay and resort towns of Bayonne, Biarritz and La Teste-de-Buch.  Regarded as one of the cultural centres of the entire south-west of France, Bordeaux has a city centre which is on the UNESCO World Heritage register, and which includes breath-taking buildings such as Place de la Bourse, the Church of Saint Pierre, the Palais Gallien, the Saint-Andre Cathedral, and the Sainte-Croix Church.  The Rue Sainte-Catherine has become a major centre for shopping with many stores located on it's beautiful old street, and the city also has a great range of museums including the Musee d'Aquitaine (Museum of Aquitaine), the Musee des Beaux Arts, and the Musee D'Histoire Naturelle.  Within a few hours drive of Bordeaux lie the towns of Bergerac, Montauban and Limoges, all of which have their own historical sights.
